André Surridge, a contributor to A Tingling Catch, recently wrote a new cricket poem (a tanka).
A tanka is a Japanese form of poetry consisting of five lines whereas a haiku is traditionally a three-line Japanese poem.
A tanka contains some of the qualities of haiku.
Surridge’s work is closer to senryu (humorous haiku):
ANDRÉ SURRIDGE
cricket stat -
the great W G Grace
was once dismissed
by Arthur Conan Doyle
now that's a mystery
